The number of active cases in India remains below 5% of total cases | India News

NEW DELHI: India has managed to keep its active burden of coronavirus cases below the 5 percent mark, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) reported on Monday.
According to an official statement, the number of active cases of Covid-19 in the country is 4.85%, that is, 4.43.486, while the recovery rate remains above 93%, since 93.68 % of all cases have recovered to date. In the last 24 hours, the country registered 41,024 new recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 85,62,641.
The gap between recovered cases and active cases is constantly increasing and is currently 81,19,155.
“In the last 24 hours, 44,059 people were found infected with Covid. India has been registering fewer than 50,000 cases during the last 16 days, since November 8. This is important as several countries in the Western Hemisphere are witnessing a huge increase of new cases at the beginning of winter, “the statement said.
Ten States / UT contribute a total of 77.44% of the new recoveries.
Kerala (6,227) and Delhi (6,154) have recorded more than 6,000 recoveries in the last 24 hours, while Maharashtra witnessed 4,600 recoveries in the same time period.
Among new cases registered within 24 hours, Delhi emerged at the top with 6,746 cases, followed by Maharashtra with 5,753 and Kerala with 5,254, according to the statement. The ten states / UTs alone have contributed 78.74 percent to the count of new cases reported Sunday.
Up to 15 states and UT are reporting less than the national average of cases per million inhabitants (6,623), the ministry said.
Additionally, 74.95 percent of the 511 death cases reported in the last 24 hours were reported by ten States / UTs. Twenty-one states and UT have reported below the national average deaths per million (97).
