NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that India is not only meeting the goals of the Paris agreement, it is also exceeding them.
Addressing virtually the G20 summit hosted by Saudi Arabia this year, Prime Minister Modi said: “We are focused on saving the citizens, the economy from the pandemic. It is equally important to keep our focus on fighting climate change. Climate change must be fought not in silos but in an integrated, comprehensive and holistic way. India has adopted climate-resilient, low-carbon development practices. ”
“International Solar Alliance is among the fastest growing international organizations. ISA will contribute to reducing the carbon footprint,” he said.
The Prime Minister also called for cooperation and collaboration to further increase research and innovation in new and sustainable technologies.
“The whole world can progress faster if there is greater support from technology and finance to the developing world. For humanity to prosper, each individual must prosper,” he said.
