‘Local boards should prevent their players from going to IPL’: Allan Border wants World T20 to take precedence over Indian Premier League – cricket
Former Australian Test captain Allan Border has been a strong critic of the cricket franchise. In his opinion, a T20 league is nothing more than a way to line your pockets with a lot of money. Border had already endorsed world games, the T20 World Cup, should be prioritized over leagues like IPL.
“I am not happy with that. The world game must take precedence over the local competition. So the World T20, if that can’t go on, I don’t think the IPL can go on. I would question that decision, it is just a money theft, isn’t it? “Border had told ABC.
“The World T20 should take priority, without a doubt. The local boards should prevent their players from going to the IPL if that is the case, “he added.

As the series draws closer, Border, who is a fervent Virat Kohli fan, believes that the Indian captain can keep test cricket alive, the true form of the game.
“The [Kohli] he is an antagonist and plays aggressively. It is up to players like Kohli and teams like India, England and Australia to keep test cricket alive from the growing threat of franchise cricket, ”said Border.
“We were hoping your baby would be born in Australia so we can claim he’s Australian!” Joked the former Australian test captain.

The 65-year-old firmly believes that Kohli’s absence from the last three events will boost Australia’s chances of regaining the Border-Gavaskar trophy, which begins on December 17 in Adelaide.
“The only thing in Australia’s favor is Virat Kohli playing the first round alone. I think it is a great “way out” for India. He’s irreplaceable right now as a hitter and leader. It should be 2-1 for Australia, ”Border said.
