NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi said Tuesday that it is necessary to ensure that countries that support terrorism are held accountable.
Addressing the 12th Brics summits via video conferencing, Prime Minister Modi said that terrorism is the greatest challenge facing the world and that the problem must be addressed in an organized manner.
Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, and South African President Cyril Ramaphosa also participated in the summit, hosted by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Terrorism is the greatest challenge facing the world. It is necessary to ensure that countries that support terrorism are held accountable. We need to address the problem of terrorism with a coordinated approach,” Modi said.
During his speech, the Prime Minister also pointed out the need for reforms of the United Nations Security Council and organizations such as the World Trade Organization and the International Monetary Fund.
The prime minister also highlighted the reform process of the government ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ campaign.
“We have started a comprehensive reform process within the framework of the ‘Self-sufficient India’ campaign. The campaign is based on the belief that a post-Covid self-sufficient and resilient India can be a force multiplier for the global economy and make a strong contribution to global value chains, “he said.
