Nagaland seals civil secretariat after spike in Covid-19 cases in state
The Nagaland State Civil Secretary has been sealed off for 48 hours to take preventative measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 in workplaces amid a further increase in daily coronavirus cases, according to a government notification Monday. .
With the state’s Covid -19 count crossing the 10,000 mark on Monday, the government ordered aggressive contact tracing. The daily case count, which stood at a steady double over the past two weeks, soared to 135 on Sunday and 140 on Monday with a peak of cases reported from the state capital, Kohima.
Along with the Civil Secretariat complex, the establishment of the Electoral Director and the Information and Public Relations Directorate have also been sealed until November 18.
“Facilities must be fumigated and aggressive contact tracing initiated following all health and safety measures and government SoPs,” said the notice issued by the Kohima Deputy Commissioner.
“The sealed area is mapped and cordoned off and the public and all stakeholders are advised to follow all safety precautions,” the notice added.
The Nagaland health department has reported that out of a total of 10,025 positive Covid cases in the state, there are currently 1,009 active cases, while 8,860 have recovered so far.
