TIRUPATI: Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams fired an employee who worked for Sri Venkateswara on Wednesday Bhakti channel (SVBC), following an internal investigation that confirmed that it sent a pornographic link to a devotee, rather than religious material.
The incident came to light after the devotee, who received the pornographic link from SVBC’s official email, lodged a complaint with TTD’s top brass. An investigation was ordered.
According to an official statement, an employee of the channel allegedly sent the pornographic link to a devotee in Hyderabad.
The employee, who has access to the official email for a particular show on SVBC, was reportedly in a very drunk state when he emailed the pornographic link to the devotee.
The temple corps, which hired the services of IT experts from its surveillance and security wing, was even more shocked when it was discovered that nearly 30 SVBC employees were regularly watching television series and pornography sites on office computers. during office hours. When investigating officials reviewed the search history of SVBC’s office computers, they noted links to various pornographic websites.
The investigation team, which has already seized the office’s computers, is in the process of compiling a preliminary report to present to the SVBC and TTD management for action against the culprits.
In January, actor-turned-politician Prudhvi Raj resigned from the SVBC presidency after an audio clip of his ‘intimate’ conversations with a channel employee went viral.
After the Prudhvi Raj episode, the temple body renewed the SVBC board and appointed additional EO AV Dharma Reddy as the channel’s managing director.
The official statement said that a team of 25 software engineers carried out a computer security audit at SVBC and a team of cyber cells was formed. “During the surveillance investigation it was discovered that some other employees are also involved in such deliberate and indecent conduct. If their guilt is proven, actions will also be taken against them, “the statement said.
He added that all computers at SVBC will henceforth work under the supervision of TTD’s IT wing and each computer will be assigned a password. It has also been decided to put SVBC under the supervisory control of TTD surveillance.
