Obama Mentions Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi in His Memoirs | India News

NEW YORK: Former US President Barack Obama says Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi has a “nervous and reportless quality” as a student eager to impress the teacher but lacks the aptitude and passion to ” master the matter. ”
The New York Times reviewed Obama’s memoir ‘A Promised Land’, in which, among other topics, the first African-American president has spoken about political leaders from around the world.
About Gandhi, Obama says he has “a nervous and reportable quality about him, as if he were a student who had done the coursework and was eager to impress the teacher, but deep down lacked the aptitude or passion to master the matter, “according to a review by The New York Times.
Gandhi’s mother and president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi, also seems to find mention in the memoirs.
The NYT review said in the memoirs “we are told about the beauty of men like Charlie Crist and Rahm Emanuel, but not about the beauty of women, except in one or two cases, as in the case of Sonia Gandhi.”
Former US Defense Secretary Bob Gates and former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh appear to have a kind of impassive integrity, the review states.
He added that Russian President Vladimir Putin reminds Obama of the tough and cunning neighborhood bosses who used to run the Chicago machine. “Physically, he had nothing special,” Obama writes of Putin.
The 768-page memoir, expected to hit the stands Nov. 17, chronicles Obama’s childhood and political rise, before diving deep into his historic 2008 campaign and his first four years in office.
Obama was the first African-American president of the United States. He visited India twice as President of the United States, in 2010 and 2015.
