BJP emits smoke over yatra barrier, hits ADMK | India News

CHENNAI: After the AIADMK government made clear its intention against its ally BJP carrying out ‘Vetrivel Yatra’ and listed the violations to the Madras high court to justify its decision to deny permission, members of the state unit of the BJP have sharpened their attack on the prime minister. Edappadi K Palaniswami and his Cabinet colleagues.
BJP Secretary General of State KT Raghavan lashed out at AIADMK and raised questions about what action the authorities had taken when large numbers of AIADMK cadres attended Palaniswami’s visits to various districts and functions organized by ministers of state and party officials during the pandemic. . He said that if cases were to be registered against those who were drawing crowds, the first case should have been registered against Palaniswami himself, for violation of Covid-19 regulations, especially during the CM’s recent visit to Tirupathi. The state police owed an explanation, he said.
He also sought to know if the ruling party and the main opposition, DMK, had a secret pact to deny the BJP any leeway to grow in the state. It is quite unusual for Raghavan to strike in such strong terms as he is known as a moderate voice in the national party.
A member of the party’s central committee said the state would see “more fireworks” during the ‘Vetrivel Yatra’ in the coming days. BJP state president L Murugan has stopped yatra for now because of Deewali. It is likely to resume on November 17. Posting Raghavan’s views on their official Twitter account, BJP wondered, “Why this illegitimate relationship (between the two great Dravidians)?”
