ICICI Bank Faces ‘Technical Issue’, Online Transactions Fail

NEW DELHI: ICICI Bank has been facing issues related to online banking as several users complained that they were not receiving unique passwords or OTPs for their UPI (Unified Payment Interface) transactions.
The server-related issues came at a time when Amazon and Flipkart sales continue, offering instant refunds and discounts for shoppers who have credit and debit cards. These cards can be from lenders like ICICI Bank and others.
A search on the Amazon app on Friday night showed an error selecting the payment method. “Currently, your bank (ICICI) cannot process card payments due to a technical problem. Please use an alternative payment method,” the message on Amazon’s application read.

Many users took to the microblogging site Twitter to mention that they could not make any transactions through the bank’s network banking service.
“Your website is down, customer service is not answering the phone. How exactly are we supposed to contact you in an emergency?” asked a Twitter user. To which the lender replied, “Hello, we are deeply sorry for the inconvenience. We will have our officer contact you.”

Another user wrote: “Is there a problem with your # mobile app … Trying to access but repeatedly failing”. In response, ICICI Bank stated that “the application works fine. Please check and confirm in case you still have any problems.”

However, the bank has not yet issued an official statement on the matter.
