Complete disengagement requires redeployment of troops on each side to their regular posts in LAC in Ladakh: MEA in India-China border row | India News

NEW DELHI: A complete disengagement in eastern Ladakh requires the redeployment of troops from each side to their regular posts on the respective sides of the Royal Line of Control (LAC), India said Thursday in the long border line with China. .
Foreign Ministry (MEA) spokesperson Anurag Srivastava said that this can only be achieved through mutually agreed reciprocal actions.
“It is therefore important to note that achieving this requires actions agreed upon by both parties,” he said at an online press conference.
The MEA spokesperson also referred to last week’s talks between the two parties under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination (WMCC) on border issues.
“In this context, at the last WMCC meeting the two parties agreed to resolve pending issues expeditiously and in accordance with existing agreements and protocols,” he said.
“Both parties also agree that the full restoration of peace and tranquility in the border areas would be essential for the overall development of bilateral relations,” he added.
Srivastava further said that the two sides had also agreed to continue their engagements through both diplomatic and military channels.
