The government is likely to review the strategy, may allow tests on demand | India News

NEW DELHI: The government is considering reviewing its Covid-19 testing strategy to advise states to make it available on demand, as India has now increased testing capabilities and is also manufacturing test kits and reagents locally, reports Sushmi Dey.
“We will review the strategy looking at capacity and access to people. Anyway, it is practically in demand. The broader purpose is to ensure that resources are used for the best purpose to avoid frivolous evidence. But we will review the test strategy after looking at the capacity we currently have, ”said VK Paul, member of Niti Aayog.
Currently, there are 1,476 labs nationwide, including 971 government labs and 505 private labs. India has so far conducted more than 3 million tests.
