Gazoo Racing an exciting prospect, to help generate greater interest in Urban Cruiser: Toyota

NEW DELHI: Toyota Kirloskar Motor aims to reach younger audiences when the company announced the introduction of Gazoo Racing (GR) Performance.
Speaking to TOI, Naveen Soni, Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Service, said: “Toyota Gazoo Racing is a global success event that will help the company connect with youth and millennials. The e-racing tournament will offer a rich experience to the target audience. ”
Toyota plans to drive the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza-based Urban Cruiser in the Indian market during the festive season. Toyota, according to Soni, expects Gazoo Racing to help promote the brand, as well as Urban Cruiser and Glanza.
TGR will kick off its journey through India with the first ever electronic motorsports contest “GR Supra Gran Turismo (GT) Cup 2020”, which is based on a world-acclaimed virtual racing championship on the PlayStation 4 video game, Gran Turismo Sport.
The top three national finalists will be rewarded with prizes equivalent to 100k, 75k and 50k respectively, and the top ten winners will be rewarded through attractive GR products.
At a time when Covid is forcing restricted movements, Toyota is looking for an opportunity to interact with potential customers. “This contest will be an online event at the national level to have the opportunity to compete more in the events at the regional and global level. Three national finalists of the Supra GT Cup will be able to compete in the regional finals in the APAC region, which will be followed by the world finals, ”said Soni.
TKM is likely to reveal more about the Supra GT Cup competition schedule and details shortly.
Globally, Toyota competes in the Dakar Rally, the World Rally Championship and the World Endurance and other motorsport events under Gazoo Racing.
