NEW DELHI: Congressional spokesman and well-known television face Rajiv Tyagi passed away Wednesday after a massive heart attack, sparking shock among colleagues who knew him as a militant supporter of the party in debates. He will be cremated at the Hindon crematorium on Thursday morning.
Tyagi, 53, was in a television conversation from his Ghaziabad residence at night and is said to have collapsed immediately after the show. He was rushed to a nearby hospital where doctors tried to revive him, but to no avail. In a message of condolence, Rahul Gandhi said that because of Tyagi’s passing, Congress had lost a “babbar sher.”

The head of Congress, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka spoke with Tyagi’s wife by phone and expressed their condolences.
Tyagi is survived by his wife and two children.
