Russia coronavirus vaccine: AIIMS director expresses concern about safety and efficacy of Russian COVID-19 vaccine
While Russia may have become the first country in the world to grant regulatory approvals to its COVID-19 vaccine, the accelerated speed at which the vaccine has been developed has caused astonishment. Similar sentiments were echoed by Dr. Randeep Guleria, director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. He stressed that it is crucial to check the safety and efficacy of the Russian vaccine candidate. He also said that India has the capacity to mass produce the vaccine.
In an interview with the Hindustan Times, Dr. Guleria said: “If the Russian vaccine is successful, then we will have to critically see if it is safe and effective. There should be no side effects from the vaccine and it should provide good immunity and protection. India has the capacity for mass production of the vaccine.
