Uncrowned and distressed passengers arriving in India since August 8 may skip institutional quarantine | India News


NEW DELHI: People flying to India since Saturday (August 8) can apply for institutional quarantine exemption if they come with a negative crown test report. The test should have been completed within 96 hours of the journey to India and passengers who submit false or falsified medical reports will be prosecuted.
In addition, those who come to India for “compelling reasons / cases of human distress such as pregnancy, death in the family, serious illness, and parents with children aged 10 years or younger” starting next Saturday can search for home quarantine during 14 days, instead of seven days paid in institutional quarantine and then seven days in home quarantine. “If they wish to request such an exemption, they must request it on the online portal at least 72 hours before boarding. Upon arrival, the symptomatic passenger will be immediately isolated and taken to a medical center. “After the thermal assessment, passengers who have been exempt from institutional quarantine (decision as indicated on the online portal in advance) will show the same to the respective state counters on their cell phones / other mode before they are allow them to quarantine at home for 14 days, “the guidelines say.
The other passengers will be taken to adequate institutional quarantine facilities, which will be organized by the respective state / UT governments, to be kept there for at least seven days. “If they test positive, they will be clinically evaluated. If assessed as asymptomatic / pre-symptomatic / very mild cases, they will be allowed isolation at home or isolated at the Covid Care Center (public and private facilities) as appropriate. Those with mild / moderate / severe symptoms will be admitted to dedicated Covid Health facilities and will be managed accordingly. If they are negative, they will be advised to further isolate themselves at home and monitor their health for 7 days, “she adds.
In the event of symptoms, such travelers should report to the district surveillance officer or the state / national call center (1075). The health ministry says states can develop their own protocol regarding quarantine and isolation based on their post-arrival assessment of passengers in the state in question.
