Sometimes silence is stronger than words, says Union Minister Shekhawat about Vasundhara Raje | India News

NEW DELHI: BJP leader Vasundhara Raje Scindia’s “silence” on political developments in Rajasthan may be a “strategy,” his party colleague and Union minister Gajendra Shekhawat said on Sunday.
In an interview with PTI, Shekhawat, accused by Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot of trying to overthrow his government, also alleged that it was the leader of Congress who orchestrated the political “drama” in the state to attack his rivals. at the party and outside.
“He has not been able to digest that I defeated his son in the Lok Sabha election and he is trying everything against me, through thick and thin to avenge his defeat,” said Shekhawat, who represents Jodhpur and had defeated Vaibhav Gehlot in the 2019 Lok Sabha. election by more than 2.74 lakh votes.
Stressing that the BJP has nothing to do with the political crisis in Rajasthan, Shekhawat argued that it is the result of infighting in Congress involving Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot.
With this drama going on in the state, he (Gehlot) wants to eliminate Sachin (Pilot) and others from the party. It is blaming the BJP for this whole crisis and it is trying to tarnish the image of its leadership, “Shekhawat said.
When asked about the silence of former Prime Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia on the matter, Shekhawat said, “Well, Vasundharaji’s silence can be a strategy and sometimes silence is stronger than words.”
He, however, declined to elaborate.
When the Gehlot-Pilot dispute was made public, two-time Prime Minister Raje maintained visible silence, although all the other BJP leaders in the state were speaking out on the matter and attacking Congress.
A week later, he had posted a pair of tweets saying that some people were trying to create confusion about political developments in the state and insisted that he support his party and its ideology.
Her comments came in the context of Nagaur’s deputy and Rashtriya Loktantrik party coordinator Hanuman Beniwal, accusing her of having an “internal alliance” with Gehlot.
Beniwal has criticized Raje and had left the BJP in 2018 before the assembly elections.
Differences between Raje and the party’s central leadership over the appointment of BJP’s Rajasthan unit chief in 2018 delayed him for more than two months, and a consensus was finally reached on the name of Madan Lal Saini.
After the party lost the last elections to the Rajasthan assembly, Raje was appointed vice president of the BJP.
Shekhawat alleged that the prime minister who transferred the MLAs to Jaisalmer shows that he does not trust them and that the government lacks a majority.
Claiming that there has been a “vertical spill” in state government since Congress came to power in the state in 2018, he said: “When the CM himself had said that he and Sachin had not spoken to each other for over a year.” and a half, then he tells you the whole story. ”
“As MLAs move to Jaisalmer in a fortress, it clearly shows that the Prime Minister does not trust his own MLAs and, instead of addressing the coronavirus crisis, he is struggling to keep his house in order. It also shows that the government lacks a majority, “he said.
Unfortunately, innocent people in the state are paying the price for internal strife in Congress, the BJP leader said.
Gajendra Shekhawat, a second-time deputy from Jodhpur, is Union Minister Jal Shakti.
He began his career as a student leader at Jodhpur University in 1992 and then partnered with various RSS-supported organizations. He worked closely with the former Prime Minister and late BJP leader Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in the 1993 assembly polls in Rajasthan.
He was noted for his work as the general secretary of Seema Jan Kalyan Samiti, a Sangh-backed team working in the border areas of Rajasthan.
