Rajasthan: After the governor’s consultations, Ashok Gehlot says he needs a session to discuss Covid | India News

JAIPUR: Slapped with a list of six questions from the Governor as to why he wants the assembly convened anytime soon, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot on Saturday sent a revised cabinet proposal to Raj Bhavan for a special House session next week to discuss the Covid issue. 19 pandemic, take stock of state finances and introduce some bills.
The revised proposal to Governor Kalraj Mishra limited the frantic 24 hours for the CM, during which he chaired two cabinet meetings and a middle CLP discussion that ended with Gehlot saying Congress would not hesitate to bring his fight to Rashtrapati Bhavan and to the prime minister. residence, if necessary.
A delegation of 15 BJP members met with Governor Mishra with a request to take “appropriate action” against CM Gehlot for “provoking” people of Gherao Raj Bhavan while allegedly remaining indifferent to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Opposition leader Gulab Chand Kataria said: “The method adopted to demand an assembly session was unfortunate. Organizing a dharna in Raj Bhavan until the governor does not budge is immoral and unconstitutional. ”
Units of Congress staged protests at the district’s 33 headquarters during the day, accusing BJP of trying to overthrow an elected government through the MLA horse trade.
At the CLP meeting at the Jaipur hotel, where MLAs in Congress have been cornered since July 13, Gehlot said: “In a democracy, the key issue is who has a majority. When the majority is with us and we want to go to the floor of the Chamber, we cannot understand why we should stop (from requesting an assembly session) … Our struggle can be a turning point to save democracy in India. ”
AICC spokesman Randeep Singh Surjewala was quoted as saying at the CLP meeting that the current crisis would be remembered for how “102 people” crushed the rebellion led by Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot.
Surjewala had been claiming the entire time that the Gehlot enjoyed the support of 109MLA. Referring to the 19 dissenting MLAs, Avinash Pande in charge of the AICC said: “The party’s high command insisted that any colleague should have the opportunity to speak openly within the family. But unfortunately, they (the dissidents) have become a puppet in the hands of BJP. Now, I don’t think they can go back to where they are. ”
