The Governor Must Call a Session for the Truth to Come Out: Rahul on Political Events in Rajasthan | India News

NEW DELHI: Claiming that there was a clear “BJP conspiracy” to overthrow the Ashok Gehlot government in Rajasthan, Congressman Rahul Gandhi said on Friday that the governor must convene an assembly session for the truth to be revealed to the country.
Gandhi intervened in political events in Rajasthan after Congress attacked Governor Kalraj Mishra for failing to convene an assembly session by accusing him of abdicating his constitutional obligation and acting at the behest of the central government.
“The country is governed by the Constitution and the law. Governments are formed and administered by the mandate of the people,” the former head of Congress said in a tweet.
“The BJP’s conspiracy to overthrow the Rajasthan government is clear. This is an insult to the eight million people in Rajasthan,” said Gandhi.

The governor should call a session of the Legislative Assembly for the truth to be revealed to the country, he tweeted with the hashtag ‘Arrogant BJP.’
Congress leader Ahmed Patel also lashed out at the BJP, saying that the saffron party government in Manipur manages to convene an assembly, but the congressional government in Rajasthan cannot.
“Is the selective application of the Constitution now a rule of law?” he said in a tweet.
Congressional MLAs loyal to Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot held a five-hour sit-in on Friday at the Raj Bhawan to push for an assembly session, in a dramatic show of force, hours after the pilot camp claimed protection for now against the disqualification of the House.
Congress said the sit-in ended after the governor assured him that he would comply with Article 174 of the Constitution, after receiving some clarification from the prime minister.
