ED attacks Rajasthan CM’s brother, Congress mourns | India News

NEW DELHI / JODHPUR: Agrasen Gehlot, Rajasthan Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot’s older brother and his firm Anupam Krishi were at the center of nationwide searches by the Compliance Directorate on Wednesday.
Gehlot is accused of illegally exporting 35,000 tons of potassium chloride (Muriate of Potash: MoP), a restricted product issued at subsidized rates for use by farmers, profiting illicitly. Agrasen, allegedly as part of a “smuggling union”, exported the fertilizer “mistakenly declaring shipments as industrial salt” to buyers in Malaysia and Taiwan.
The raids covered the Agrasen Jodhpur residence and premises linked to it in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Delhi and Kolkata. Rejecting allegations made by Congress that the raids were politically motivated, a senior ED official said the agency had registered a money laundering investigation against Gehlot.
