NEW DELHI: The government on Thursday issued a new set of guidelines for opening shopping malls, hotels, restaurants, offices and religious sites. The notice was issued after the government’s decision to unblock the country after a nearly two-month blockade following the coronavirus pandemic.

Here’s a look at the government-issued guidelines:

RELIGIOUS PLACES

  • All places of worship outside the containment areas may be opened.
  • They were ordered to follow strict norms of social distancing and other preventive measures.
  • Only asymptomatic cases will be allowed to enter.
  • Shoes / footwear should preferably be removed inside the vehicle itself. Or, the people themselves must keep them in separate spaces.
  • If possible, arrangements should be made for entry and exit separately.
  • For air conditioning, CPWD guidelines must be followed. The temperature in all air conditioning devices should be in the range of 24 to 30 degrees Celsius, the relative humidity should be in the range of 40-70%, the fresh air intake should be as much as possible and the cross ventilation should be adequate.
  • No touching of statues / idols / holy books.
  • Common prayer mats should be avoided and devotees should bring their own prayer mats.
  • Physical offerings such as prasad or distribution or a pinch of holy water should not be allowed inside religious sites.
  • Community kitchens / ann-daan / langars must strictly practice social distancing guidelines.
  • People must maintain a distance of a minimum of six feet.
  • The use of masks / masks will be mandatory.
  • Spitting is strictly prohibited.
  • All attendees must download the Aarogya Setu application from the government.

RESTAURANTS

  • Takeaway to encourage rather than dinner. Food delivery personnel must leave the package at the door. Do not deliver the package to the customer directly.

  • It is recommended to use disposable menus.
  • All restaurants should use disposable paper napkins, rather than cloth napkins.
  • The buffet service must also follow the rules of social distancing.

HOTELS

  • Guest details (travel history, medical condition, etc.) along with identification and self-declaration form must be provided by the guest at reception.
  • Rooms and other service areas will be disinfected each time a guest leaves.
  • In the kitchen, staff must follow the rules for social distancing in the workplace. The kitchen area should be disinfected at regular intervals.
  • Thorough cleaning of all baths should be ensured at regular intervals.
  • Proper disposal of face covers / masks / gloves left by guests and / or staff should be ensured.

OFFICES / WORKPLACE

  • Entries must have mandatory hand hygiene and thermal protection provisions.
  • Only asymptomatic staff / visitors will be allowed to enter.
  • Persons residing in the containment zone must work from home and will not count as a leave period until the containment zone is denoted.
  • Disinfection of the interior of the vehicle with a 1% sodium hypochlorite solution / spray should be provided.

  • Regular cleaning and disinfection (using 1% sodium hypochlorite) of frequently touched surfaces (door knobs, elevator buttons, handrails, benches, bathroom fixtures, etc.) should be mandatory in all centers. commercial in common areas, as well as inside shops, elevators, escalators etc.

GENERIC GUIDELINES

  • The government also released a set of generic guidelines that will apply to all locations.
  • All persons must maintain a distance of 6 feet.

In the event of a suspected or confirmed case on the premises

  • Place the sick person in a room or area where he is isolated from others.
  • Provide a face mask / cover until such time as a doctor examines you.
  • Immediately report to the nearest medical center (hospital / clinic) or call the state or district helpline.
  • The designated public health authority (district RRT / treating physician) will conduct a risk assessment, and consequently new actions will be initiated regarding case management, contacts and the need for disinfection.
  • Disinfection of the premises to be taken if the person is positive.
