Andhra Pradesh Gas leak: PM Modi convenes NDMA meeting | India News


NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took stock of the situation in Andhra Pradesh Visakhapatnam where a gas leak from a chemical plant left six dead and ensured all possible assistance to the head of state Minister And S Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The Prime Minister also called a meeting of the National Disaster Management Authority at 11 am in the wake of the situation, the PMO said.

The Prime Minister wrote on Twitter that he spoke to officials from the Union Interior Ministry and the National Disaster Management Authority about the situation “which is being closely monitored.”
“I pray for the safety and well-being of everyone in Visakhapatnam,” he said.
The Prime Minister’s Office said Modi spoke to the state’s prime minister.
“He secured all the help and support,” said a PMO tweet.
At least six people died and nearly 100 were hospitalized after a gas leak at a chemical plant in Visakhapatnam in the early hours of Thursday.
