NEW DELHI: Families of 72 households in a southern Delhi district locality have been told to observe quarantine after a delivery boy associated with a famous pizza chain tested positive for Covid-19, a magistrate of South Delhi district.

According to DM B.M. Mishra, a delivery boy for a famous pizza chain in the Malviya Nagar area tested positive on Tuesday, after which authorities immediately decided to quarantine his 16 colleagues at the establishment. A detailed trail was followed to identify each house where the exit delivered food.

“We have discovered that 72 houses had received delivery from that point of sale and therefore everyone has been told to follow precautionary measures and be under quarantine,” Mishra told IANS.

He added that there was no need to panic as he had informed all delivery men to wear masks and follow security measures while executing a delivery. But the decision to send all contact persons to quarantine was “necessary” as a precautionary measure.

Said delivery man is now receiving treatment in a hospital, while others who came into contact with him are being monitored daily.

Some of the orders at this point of sale were also made through food delivery giant Zomato, which said that while all of the delivery man’s colleagues tested negative, as a precautionary measure, the restaurant has now suspended operations for the time being. .

“All of the rider’s coworkers tested negative, and as a precaution, the restaurant where the rider worked suspended operations,” a Zomato statement said.
