Chef Floyd Cardoz dies amid the coronavirus: the famous chef Floyd Cardoz of Bombay Canteen dies of the coronavirus


Chef Floyd Cardoz, owner of the world famous Cantina Bombay y O Pedro passed away on Wednesday.

The news was confirmed by a tweet from journalist Rajdeep Sardesai, who wrote: “Tragic news. Floyd Cardoz, the world renowned chef – with his own restaurants in New York – Chez Floyd, then recently Bombay Canteen, O Pedro and restaurants in Bombay and Goa have succumbed to the Corona virus in the New Jersey RIP ”

On Tuesday, it was reported that he had tested positive in New Jersey.

Cardoz was reportedly in Mumbai until March 8 and had attended the fifth anniversary celebrations of his restaurant in Mumbai on March 1. At least 200 people attended the party. Cardoz later attended the opening of The Bombay Sweet Shop. On March 18, Cardoz visited Instagram to announce that he had been admitted to a New York hospital.

The official statement released by Hunger Inc stated that: “Floyd Cardoz (59 years old), currently admitted to a hospital in New York, USA, tested positive for COVID-19 on March 18, 2020. As a precautionary measure, We report to the Mumbai Health Department more or less the same. We are also personally approaching people who have interacted with him during his visit to India, so that they can take the necessary medical advice if they indicate any symptoms (fever, cough, shortness of breath) and / or quarantine. Floyd Cardoz flew to New York from Mumbai via Frankfurt on March 8, 2020. ”
