Fighting COVID-19: Don’t defecate outdoors, practice social distancing, wash your hands, says Amitabh Bachchan | Hindi Movie News

Megastar Amitabh Bachchan shed light on Tuesday that the coronavirus can remain in human excreta for many weeks and urged people to use their toilets. Bachchan has joined the Government of India for the public service announcement, which he shared on his Twitter.

In the video, Bachchan is seen citing a Chinese study that says the coronavirus can remain in human excreta for longer periods and asked people to use toilets to prevent the spread of the virus.

“You know that recently Chinese scientists have discovered that the coronavirus can remain alive in human excreta for many weeks. Even if the patient recovers, even then the virus could remain in excreta for a long time,” said Bachchan.

“If a fly sits on excreta or if that fly sits on fruit, vegetables or fruit, then this disease can spread even further,” he added.

The 77-year-old actor then asked people to fight coronavirus in the same way that they struggled with open defecation and polio.

“I ask you, with your hands together, to support the nation in the fight against the coronavirus by doing these three things,” said the ‘Amar Akbar Anthony’ actor.

“First use your bathroom and don’t defecate outdoors, second practice social distancing and third wash your hands several times for at least 20 seconds,” he added.

Bachchan has been associated with many public service announcements by the Government of India and is raising awareness of the highly contagious virus.
