22 MLA of Madhya Pradesh Rebel Congress join BJP | India News

NEW DELHI: Twenty-two congressional legislators, whose resignations triggered a political crisis in Madhya Pradesh and led to the downfall of the Kamal Nath government, joined the BJP on Saturday.

The MLA rebels were formally incorporated into the party by BJP chief J. P Nadda. Former Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia was also present.

In addition to Scindia, two key Madhya Pradesh leaders, Narendra Tomar and Kailash Vijayvargiya, were also present at the meeting.

Kamal Nath resigned as Prime Minister of Madhya Pradesh on Friday, hours before the Supreme Court-ordered floor test deadline, as his government contemplated a certain defeat in the assembly after the President accepted the resignation of the 22 MLAs. rebels.

After former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia resigned from Congress, 22 MLA, most of them loyal to him, resigned from the assembly. After their resignations were accepted, the Congress count was lowered to 92.

The BJP said it had nothing to do with political events and said it was a consequence of fractionalism in Congress.
