Punjab coronavirus: India reports fourth death from coronavirus; the total number of cases rises to 173 | India News


NEW DELHI: India reported on Thursday the death of a Punjab COVID-19 patient, bringing the death toll in the country to four, the Union health ministry said.

According to the ministry, the number of new cases of coronavirus in the country has increased to 173.

The cases include 25 foreigners: 17 from Italy, three from the Philippines, two from the United Kingdom, one from Canada, Indonesia and Singapore. The figure also includes four reported deaths in Punjab, Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra.

“The total number of active COVID-19 cases in India is 149 so far,” the ministry said. According to him, another 20 have been cured / discharged / migrated, while four have died.

So far, Delhi has reported 12 positive cases involving a foreigner, while Uttar Pradesh has recorded 19 cases, including a foreigner. Maharashtra has 47 cases, including three foreigners, while Kerala has recorded 27 cases that include two foreign citizens.

Karnataka has 14 patients with coronavirus. The number of cases in Ladakh increased to eight and Jammu and Kashmir to four. Telangana has reported six cases that include two foreigners.

Rajasthan has also reported seven cases, including that of two foreigners. Tamil Nadu and Punjab have two cases so far. Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, Puducherry and Chandigarh have each reported one case. In Haryana, there are 17 cases, including 14 foreigners.
