Coronavirus in Hyderabad: 36 of Hyderabad technician contacts show symptoms of coronavirus | India News

HYDERABAD / BENGALURU: At least 36 of the 88 people who came into contact with the 24-year-old software professional from Hyderabad after returning from Dubai show “some symptoms” of Covid-19, Telangana government officials said Tuesday.

While 45 of his contacts were taken to Gandhi State Hospital since Monday night, the rest, who were not symptomatic, have remained isolated in their homes. The results for the 36 symptomatic patients are expected on Wednesday, health officials said. “The 36 include their companions on the bus that took from Bangalore to Hyderabad and their families,” said Vijay Kumar, a state nodal officer for the detection of the coronavirus. However, sources said showing symptoms does not necessarily mean that they have been infected and that their samples can still be negative for the virus.

Coronavirus outbreak: full coverage

The Telangana government, for its part, has allocated Rs 100 million to prevent and contain a possible virus outbreak. The fund will be used for extensive awareness activities. In addition, private hospitals have been given a directive not to delay notification of cases when they have symptoms of the virus.

The state health minister, Eatala Rajender, has sought 50,000 additional masks from the Center due to the shortage in Hyderabad. He has also sought help to improve the ability to test in the state. In addition, 104 help lines have been established exclusively for queries related to Coronavirus.

The decisions were made after Rajender, municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao and Panchayat Raj minister Errabelli Dayakar Rao met on Tuesday with officials from various departments.

“There is no local transmission so far. The only positive case is with a Dubai travel history, but all precautionary measures have been implemented. We are constantly in contact with the Center about the preparatory measures to be taken. A team of 15 members will visit Kerala on Wednesday to study the measures taken there, ”said Rajender.

The health department will carry out awareness campaigns and place billboards, bulletin boards in parks, courts, bus stops, on flights, railways, movie theaters, schools and hospitals.

In addition to the three hospitals designated to isolate patients, military hospitals, Vikarabad tuberculosis sanitarium and all Hyderabad teaching hospitals have been asked to prepare isolation rooms. With state and government hospitals together, the government has identified 3,000 beds for isolation.

“Since Covid-19 affects the lungs, pulmonologists are required for treatment. Currently 24, pulmonologists have been assigned to treat cases, 20 more have been identified and kept on hold. We are also communicating with retired doctors, professors and nurses to have a group of workers to press for action, if the need arises, ”said Rajender.

Rajender added that he had spoken with the Union health minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, and urged him to sanction an additional laboratory at the Institute of Preventive Medicine (MIP). “As of now, we only have one laboratory at Gandhi Hospital that can analyze 120 samples a day,” he said.

The minister asked people not to “shake hands” and only say “namaskaram” with their hands together for at least a while. In addition, he asked people to postpone their trip abroad if it is not important.
