Congress deputies led by Rahul Gandhi visit northeast Delhi hit by violence | India News


NEW DELHI: A delegation of congressional parliamentarians is visiting areas of Delhi affected by the riots on Wednesday to assess the situation on the ground.

The congressional delegation is headed by Rahul Gandhi.

Speaking to the media after visiting a shattered school in Brijpuri, Rahul Gandhi said: “This school is the future of Delhi. Hate and violence have destroyed it.”

“India is dividing; nobody is benefiting from this. Everyone has to work together and move India forward at this time.”

Meanwhile, when discussing the party’s visit to the areas affected by the riots in Delhi, Congress leader K Suresh said: “Congressional parliamentarians had so far not visited the areas affected by the riots, but IUML and parliamentarians of the ICC-Left had visited them, so we were under tremendous pressure. ” of our constituencies. ”

Congress has been demanding that the issue of communal unrest in Delhi be debated in Parliament and both procedures of Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha have been interrupted by the issue.

The president of Congress, Sonia Gandhi, had appointed a five-member team last week to visit the areas of Delhi affected by the riots and present her with a report after assessing the situation there.

Community violence in northeastern Delhi, which was caused by protests over the amended Citizenship Law, has left 42 dead and more than 200 injured.
