Exclusive! Taapsee Pannu on the trend of ‘boycotting Thappad’: it is stupid to decide if you will see a movie based on the socio-political opinions of an actor | Hindi Movie News

Before the release of the highly commented Anubhav Sinha movie, “Thappad,” the trolls on Twitter started a hashtag, “boycott Thappad,” which was on social media for a while. They called for a ban on the film for Taapsee’s participation in the protests against the CAA.

Taapsee Pannu is an actress in Bollywood who has never avoided saying what she thinks. His films have been a reflection of his bold opinions and the right choices in life. Speaking exclusively with ETimes about the same thing, Taapsee said: “I think that the personal opinions of the actors should not affect their profession and I really don’t think they will do it to some extent. It takes around 1000-2000 tweets to generate a tendency towards a certain “Hashtag. Does that really affect a movie? I don’t think so. I might have different social and political opinions of many people, but that doesn’t mean people don’t go to watch the movie. An actor is never bigger than a movie. film has hundreds of people involved in it. It’s stupid to decide whether or not to watch a movie based on the socio-political opinions of an actor. ”

The actress joined a peaceful protest on Carter Road in Mumbai, supporting students from Jawaharlal Nehru University in January, who were attacked by a masked crowd in January. Twitter trolls compared their movement with that of Deepika Padukone, who sympathized with the students in Delhi.

Earlier, while talking about CAA, Taapsee had said that I had not expressed my views on CAA because I had not studied about it. But the images he saw in Jamia did not seem pleasant. He felt very sad when he saw the videos where the students talked about their situation. He also added that he feels that something big has happened or that something big is going to happen.

Directed by Anubhav Sinha, “Thappad” also features Dia Mirza and Pavail Gulati in key roles. The movie is scheduled to hit theaters today, February 28.
