Each year, Colournext identifies a color that captures the essence of the time as “Color of the year”. This years ‘Color of the year‘ it is “Curiosity”: A modern and clear shade of blue full of energy and inspired by azurite, the mineral mineral of copper. It gives us energy with optimism to persist in our focused activities and be the best version of ourselves. Curiosity allows us to experiment, get carried away by failure and brings us closer to the answers we seek.
The wallpaper of the year presented by Nilaya is an interpretation of the Curiosity color in print, technique and material. This year, Nilaya collaborates with Nicobar to present “Silver Night”, the wallpaper of the year, a special design that celebrates the spirit of the moon and its innumerable influences in our lives. Part of the limited edition collection “Luna”, is a tribute to the connection between man and the moon.
The four color trends for the year 2020 are Potent, Mystique, Blend and Sonic.
Amplified experiences in mini packages
There has been a change in how society perceives luxury. There is a growing appreciation for scarcity, a prioritization of undiluted experiences over quantity. This is based on the awareness of what is what and what is inside, and of having the resources to buy an idea, be it the last super ingredient or a limited fall of a niche brand.
Redefining luxury, Potent offers an amplified experience, a power full of intensity as a core. Rooted in knowledge, it represents the change in our preference to participate in fewer but more concentrated experiences. Powerful is, in essence, amplified experiences in mini packages for thoughtful consumers.
The “Powerful” color palette:
Potent has a pure, clean and monotonous color palette with contrast touches. The purest of the pure is summarized in white. The green tones represent abundance, vitality and wealth as a metaphor for the power of nature. In contrast to the shades of red, the clarity of this palette leaves a lasting impression.
Mixing it up to create a new whole
As our skills, our experience and the ability to implement our most challenging ideas have expanded, so have the limits of our imagination. There is no single discipline today in isolation or beyond our reach. A scientist could be a designer, an encoder or a choreographer. An individual can have the same domain over non-associated issues, that is the new normal. Diversity has found its way in all industries, forcing us to radically rethink how we perceive experience.
Blend is a new search for creativity, where disparate fields merge to create non-vanilla experiences and the sum is always greater than its parts. Directed by outliers, Blend challenges ideas of form, function, perception and bias that once restricted creativity.
The “mix” color palette:
The colors in this palette converge in unusual but harmonious ways that symbolize diversity. A mixture of blue, purple-pink, yellow-green, cyan and gray faded, the colors chosen are intentionally intermediate and cannot be clearly classified as one or the other
Inspired by symbols and stories of the past.
Mysticism is a visual manifestation of our desire to explore ancient wisdom, practices and philosophies. Either for reasons of self-realization, therapy or our eternal cosmic curiosity. Mystique traces a gradual behavior change in which spirituality is no longer linked to religion. An aesthetic inspired by totems and ancient symbols of mysticism, the visual, spatial and material qualities of Mystique are mysterious and magnetic.
The Mystique color palette:
Mystique transfigures you in a magical and meditative look with a color palette made with the elementary colors of wood, earth, fire, sky and water. Light colors like bright orange, blood red, midnight blue and black attract you; while the earthy tones of light and dark brown relieve the eyes.
Expanding human potential through sound
Sonic explores how we interact with sound to expand our potential and explore the invisible dimensions of our mind. While our urban environment takes us to the limit of our hyperactive state, humans still yearn to grow more: acquiring new knowledge, developing new capabilities, exploring new frontiers. The sense of sound presents us with a relatively little used way to do it. While we work, cook, exercise, meditate or sleep, the sound accompanies us as a personalized companion. Dynamic or calm, undulating or rhythmic, sound helps us to disconnect, relax, learn, energize and improve productivity.
Sonic’s color palette
It is imperative that there is a vacuum before the sound can produce the desired result. The gray and beige in this color palette represent this silence, while the blue, pink and orange represent calm, joy and activity.
