AHMEDABAD: President of the United States, Donald Trump, said Monday that the rise of Prime Minister Narendra Modi from his humble past as “chai-wallah” (tea seller) underlined the “unlimited promise of the great nation,” comments that reflect the bonhomie shared by the Two leaders.

Everyone loves him, Trump said about Modi at the “Namaste Trump” event here, and then added that the prime minister is a very “tough” negotiator.

“Prime Minister Modi, you are not just Gujarat’s pride. You are living proof that with hard work and devotion, Indians can achieve anything, anything, whatever they want,” Trump said amid cheers of a lakh- strong audience at the Motera stadium.

“The life of Prime Minister Modi underlines the unlimited promise of this great nation. He started beside his father as a chai-wallah, as a tea salesman. When he was young he worked in a coffee shop in this city,” said the president of the United States. and urged Modi to stand up while greeting his host.

In describing Modi as the “tremendously successful leader” of the vast Indian Republic, Trump referred to the “crushing victory of the BJP leader as no other in the largest democratic elections ever held on the face of the earth.”

On his first visit to India as president of the USA. In the US, Trump also invoked Swami Vivekananda, a revered spiritual leader that Modi often described as an inspiration to him, and touched on the reach of Indian popular culture.

On the entire planet, people really enjoy ‘bhangra’ and watch Bollywood movies like DDLJ (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge) and Sholay, he said, and then he also referred to cricket greats Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli.

Modi was also a compliment to the president of the United States.

“What you have done for a healthy and happy America is to get good results. What you are doing for children in society is admirable,” Modi said.
