One Hero, One Tree: a step towards protecting our world

According to a new study in the
Science magazine* Planting billions of trees worldwide would be the most economical and effective way to deal with the climate crisis. After all, they capture carbon dioxide, improve biodiversity and increase groundwater. Last year, in August 2019, more than one million people in the state of Uttar Pradesh planted 220 million trees in a single day! And not only governments are promoting initiatives to address climate change, but also the conscious brands that are moving towards sustainability. Recognizing that nature needs heroes to counter climate change, Tata AIA Life Insurance has launched a Hero Rakshakaran Hero ’campaign that aims to plant a tree for each term insurance policy sold.

A tree planted for each term policy sold

How does this work? Once a term plan is purchased, Tata AIA Life Insurance plants a tree on behalf of that insured. A personalized certificate is given to the policyholder, informing him of the Tata AIA life insurance initiative #RakhshakaranHero. The letter also contains a unique number, as well as a geographical label for the tree that has been planted in that client’s name. With that, the customer can log in to the website at any time and virtually visit the tree’s location.

To begin with, life insurance Tata AIA has promised almost 1.5 lakh trees in Karnataka and Odisha. In addition, on the occasion of its anniversary on February 12, 2020, Tata AIA Life Insurance also planted a sapling on behalf of each of its employees.
