NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Thursday requested the response of the authorities of the Tihar prison in a guilty plea of ​​one of the four sentenced to death in the case of homicide and homicide of Nirbhaya, seeking a better treatment for his alleged mental illness, schizophrenia and head and arm injuries.

In additional sessions, Judge Dharmender Rana ordered the prison authorities to submit their response to Vinay Kumar Sharma’s request on Saturday.

Vinay Sharma, one of the four convicts in the Nirbhaya case housed in Tihar Jail number 3, was allegedly injured by hitting her head against the wall of her cell on Monday. The prison authorities said that the guards in charge of watching the death row inmates managed to arrest Sharma and took him to a hospital where he was given first aid and discharged.

According to prison officials, Sharma was injured by banging his head against the wall of his cell in Tihar prison.

The incident occurred in jail number 3 on Sunday afternoon, they said, adding that he suffered minor injuries and was treated inside the prison facilities.

During the hearing, the prosecution opposed the statement saying it was not maintainable.

Sharma’s lawyer told the court that he refused to recognize people, including his mother.

The statement alleged that when Sharma’s lawyer visited him in prison at the request of his family members, he discovered that he had suffered a serious head injury, fractured right arm with plaster and suffered from “madness”, “illness mental”. and “schizophrenia.”

Sharma could not identify his lawyer and his mother in jail, he said.

The petition further claimed that he had been “diminishing sleep” for a long time and was referred to a senior psychiatrist due to drug dependence.

On February 17, the court issued new death orders for March 3 at 6 in the morning against the four sentenced to death in the case of rape and group murder of Nirbhaya.

He had issued new orders against those sentenced to death: Mukesh Kumar Singh (32), Pawan Gupta (25), Vinay (26) and Akshay Kumar (31).

This is the third time death orders are issued against them.
