Pakistani Bollywood Galas Organizer in the USA UU. On government radar | India News

NEW DELHI: Indian authorities are tracking the activities of the Houston-based Pakistani event manager and owner of Rehan Siddiqui radio station, who is said to be organizing another Bollywood gala in the city later this year. It is alleged that he is using funds raised from events to finance activities against India related to Kashmir in the United States, official sources said here.
What is especially of concern to India is the interest shown by some Bollywood stars to participate in events that Siddiqui has helped organize. The Indian community in Houston has repeatedly raised the issue in the past with both the foreign ministry and the union home ministry.
The immediate provocation to raise the problem again seems to be a proposed Bollywood gala later this year in which Siddiqui is said to be involved. It is said that the organizers said that a prominent Bollywood actor had agreed to participate in the event.
However, last year, Punjabi actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh canceled his concert in Houston after the Indian community and also the West Indian Film Employees Federation (FWICE) wrote to the Indian authorities, including MEA, about the participation of the ‘ISI agent’ Siddiqui.
Members of the Indian diaspora in Houston have urged the government to persuade Bollywood actors not to participate in events organized by Siddiqui. They claimed that Siddiqui and other Pakistani citizens are working to organize anti-CAA protests in Houston and also pro-Khalistan protests by the local Sikh community.
“He owns a radio channel and brings Indian artists to Houston for Bollywood concerts. He uses his radio channels as a platform to advertise against India,” said a leading member of the Indian community in Houston who declined to be identified. .
“We have written to the Indian government that it is important to deprive people like Siddiqui of access to Indian artists. If Bollywood actors continue to be part of these events, they will do nothing to help the efforts of the Indian community fight CAA and anti-Modi propaganda, “he added. The Siddiqui channel is also accused of carrying out anti-Indian propaganda after the Pulwama attack and subsequent Balakot air attacks by India.
According to a PTI report last year, FWICE had claimed that artists such as actor Saif Ali Khan and singer Shreya Ghoshal were performing in the United States at the request of Siddiqi, who was also the promoter of the shows. “It is our humble request to all performers in our country who do not give priority to monetary considerations and refrain from being part of such a project with Pak citizens and Pak artists anywhere in the world,” added the FWICE statement.
