Bihar: HIV positive woman ‘raped’ on train, two arrested | Patna News
The incident came to light when a joint team of railway protection force (RPF) and government railway police (GRP) was searching the coaches of Patna-Bhabua Intercity Express after its arrival at Bhabhua Road railway station around 11.50pm on Monday.
The police personnel caught the two youths engaged in the crime by holding the woman hostage. Sasaram GRP SHO Lallu Singh said while one was outraging her modesty, another was making a video of the crime. On seeing the police, the two started fleeing but one of them was caught. Later, the other culprit was also arrested.
The woman was returning from Patna after seeking medical advice from a doctor. The two youths had boarded the train at Kudra, which is the second last stoppage of the train.
The accused, identified as Birendra Prakash Singh (26) and Deepak Singh (28) of Chayta under Kudra police station area in Kaimur district, confessed to the crime. “The accused were produced before a local court, which remanded them in judicial custody for 14 days,” the SHO told this newspaper over phone.
The rape survivor was sent to Bhabhua Sadar hospital for medical examination after recording her statement in the court. “She was deserted by her husband who had AIDS and died later on. Doctors diagnosed her HIV positive and she was under treatment of a medical practitioner in Patna,” an investigating officer said.
The officer further said the woman was alone in the coach. Bhabhua Road station is the last destination of the train, which originates from Patna at 5.45pm.
