Kanpur horror: Cops arrest 2 accused after encounter, total 6 held for murder of molestation victim’s mother | Kanpur News


KANPUR: The Kanpur Police late on Friday arrested two more accused after an encounter in connection with the murder of the woman who was beaten to death by her 13-year-old daughter’s alleged molesters, taking the total number of arrests in the case to six.

The woman, 40, a complainant in a molestation case of 2018, was attacked along with her sister allegedly by the accused and his aides on January 9. Her teenage daughter was allegedly molested by one Mehfooz on the premises of a tannery in the city in 2018. Subsequently, she had lodged an FIR against him at Chakeri police station.

According to Kanpur SP (East) Raj Kumar Agarwal, the two accused were injured and arrested after encounter with police in Jajmau area of the city.

The accused, identified as Parvez and Abid, who sustained bullet wounds, have been admitted to Kanshiram hospital in Ramadevi area of the city. Police said both were named along with four others in the FIR lodged at Chakeri police station under sections 147/148/149/307/452/354/392 on January 9.

The breakthrough was made late on Friday night when police acting on a tip-off laid a trap near 150 feet road and were conducting searches there.

“When police tried to stop the two suspects, they tried to flee and started firing at the police team. In the gun battle, the two sustained bullet injuries on their leg. Parvez and Abid were wanted in connection with January 9 FIR. Amid tight police arrangements, both have been undergoing treatment at Kanshiram hospital.

DIG Anant Deo said the two arrested men were allegedly responsible for the assault on the mother of a teenaged girl, and who died during treatment at the hospital on Friday. “Now section 307 of IPC would be converted into 302 in the FIR lodged on January 9 at Chakeri police station,” DIG added.
