Pawan Kalyan: Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan defends BJP on NRC, CAA | Vijayawada News
He said there was no threat to Indian Muslims with the new laws initiated by the Centre. Speaking to media here on Thursday, Pawan said the Citizenship Amendment Act was brought to give citizenship to minorities persecuted in neighbouring countries. “India was never declared as a Hindu nation. Hindu minorities in Pakistan and Bangladesh are facing torture and the CAA has been brought to provide citizenship to such people who migrated to India under fear,” said Pawan.
Kalyan said there was no truth that Indian Muslims would lose citizenship with the CAA and NRC. He said that the controversy about the CAA and NRC was unnecessary.
The Jana Sena president said Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah were taking the nation into growth corridor. Explaining his U-turn on his fight against the BJP-led Centre on the Special Category Status (SCS), Pawan said the TDP leadership had committed a blunder by agreeing to the special package to ignore the SCS.
Pawan also criticized YSRC’s three-capital cities theory saying that no one would call a city as capital because it hosts the high court. He said it was a diversionary tactic.
He said that he had found fault with the TDP regime when it pooled 33,000 acre for the capital city. Pawan promised to uproot casteism from politics in the state. He said Jana Sena was ready to work with BJP .
