Patients can reap the benefits of faster recovery, lesser post-operative pain and minimal post-surgical complications. The centre has also healed about 5000 Type 2 diabetic patients with bariatric surgery and helped them deal with challenging medical conditions successfully. Mohak Bariatrics & Robotics is one of the leading bariatric surgery hospitals in India and Asia Pacific region, with a serious focus on managing morbid obesity.
Benefits of Bariatric Surgery
Bariatric surgery (or weight loss surgery) includes a variety of procedures that are performed on people who have excess body weight. Procedures are based on either restrictive, mal-absorptive or combination of both methods. Weight loss is achieved by reducing the size of the stomach with a gastric band or through the removal of a portion of the stomach or by resecting and re-routing the small intestine to a small stomach pouch. Sleeve Gastrectomy, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Mini Gastric Bypass, Single Incision Lap Sleeve, Banded Gastric Bypass, Duodenal Jejunal Bypass and Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty are some of the most commonly performed procedures at Mohak Bariatrics & Robotics.
The driving force
The centre is spearheaded by Dr Mohit Bhandari, a man of high repute in Bariatric, Metabolic, Robotic and the Endoscopic Surgery world. This is a first of its kind non-surgical weight loss centre where all the procedures are done through an endoscope to avoid incisions and scars. Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG), a procedure commonly performed at Enliten, is new to India and helps patients tide over-complicated ailments and conditions.

A glowing legacy
Having performed notable surgeries, the centre has garnered national and international attention in just a few years. It is not surprising that it has quite a long list of achievements to its credit. In 2012, the first documented obesity surgery in Asia was performed on an Asian woman weighing 350 kg. The highly skilled team of doctors at the centre have also performed bariatric surgery on a 6-year-old boy in 2013, the youngest patient on record to receive such a surgery in India. In 2015, 25 bariatric surgeries were performed in an 11-hour period with a 40-person team at the helm while 2018 was when revision bariatric surgery was performed on the youngest documented patient, who was 8 years old at the time of the surgery.
