Netanyahu warns of ‘crushing blow’ if Iran attacks Israel

JERUSALEM: Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanayhu on Wednesday warned arch-enemy Iran that his country would inflict a “crushing blow” on Tehran if attacked after the United States killed an Iranian general.
Netanyahu’s statement came when Iran launched more than a dozen ballistic missiles at at least two bases in Iraq, where the US military and coalition forces are stationed, in revenge for the assassination of the commander of the Iran’s powerful Revolutionary Guard, General Qasem Soleimani, in a Us drone strike Friday, which was ordered by President Donald Trump.
“We stand firm against those who seek to kill us. We stand with determination and strength. Anyone who tries to attack us will suffer a crushing blow in return,” Netanyahu said at a conference at The Begin Heritage Center in Jerusalem.
Describing the murdered Iranian commander, Soleimani, as a “terrorist-in-chief,” the Israeli Prime Minister congratulated Israeli President Donald Trump on eliminating him by “acting swiftly, boldly, and determined.”
“Qassem Soleimani was responsible for the deaths of countless innocent people. It destabilized many countries. For decades, they sowed fear, misery and anguish. And it was planning a lot worse,” Netanyahu said.
“President Trump should be congratulated for acting swiftly, boldly and decisively against this terrorist-in-chief, who was the architect and host of Iran’s campaign of carnage and terror throughout the Middle East and around the world,” he added.
The Israeli leader also stressed that the region is divided between radical Islamists and moderate forces with the Israel is the anchor of stability in these stormy waters.”
“Many leaders in the Middle East agree with what I’m saying,” he stressed.
Netanyahu also reiterated his country’s full support for the United States in its current military confrontation with Iran.
“It is very important to say that Israel is completely alongside the United States,” Netanyahu said, adding, “America has no better friend than Israel, and Israel has no better friend than the United States.”
Iranian military officers have threatened to attack Israel and even turn Israeli cities “in dust” in the wake of the US military operation in which Soleimani was killed.
