Latest News of Nirbhaya Case: Court Issues Death Warrant for 4 Convicts of Nirbhaya News Case – India

NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Tuesday issued a death warrant for four convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang rape and murder case.

The execution will take place on 22 January at 7 a.m. in Tihar prison. The court said convicts can use their legal remedies within 14 days.

The order was issued by Additional Sessions Judge Satish Kumar Arora, who issued death warrants against them.

AP Singh, a convict’s lawyer, has said they will file a court of appeal with the Supreme Court.

Responding to the court order, Asha Devi, mother of the gang rape victim, said: “My daughter has justice. The execution of the four convicts will empower the country’s women. This decision will strengthen people’s confidence in the judicial system.”

Earlier during the hearing, the prosecution said there was no pending request before any court or the President at this time by any of the convicts and the request for review of all convicts was dismissed by the Supreme Court.

While urging the court to issue death orders, the prosecution said, “Between issuing and executing the death orders of convicts they want to file healing petitions they can do so.”

The four death row inmates are Mukesh, Vinay Sharma, Akshay Singh and Pawan Gupta.
