Delhi 2020 election: Arvind Kejriwal says people will vote for development; “Time’s up,” counters BJP. Indian News

NEW DELHI: Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Monday that the next assembly elections will be held on the basis of the APA government’s work and noted that his party will conduct a “positive” campaign. Kejriwal’s claims were countered by the BJP, which said the people of Delhi will defeat the IAP government that has deceived everyone over the past 5 years. Congress, for its part, said it is ready for election and will conduct an aggressive campaign.

At a press conference Monday night, Kejriwal called on the people of Delhi to “vote for us (AAP) only if he believes we have done a good job in the last five years.”

“If I’ve done the job, then vote for me. If I haven’t done the job, then don’t vote for me,” Kejriwal said.

He urged supporters of the BJP and Congress to vote for Delhi and not for “their political party.”

“We will seek votes from both BJP supporters and Congressional supporters. We’ll go door-to-door and urge supporters of Congress and the BJP to vote for us,” he said.

Kejriwal said the SPG will conduct a “positive campaign” and will not abuse anyone.

“All Amit Shah ji (Minister of the Interior) did in his speech recently was abuse me. I’m not going to let myself go through something like that. We won’t abuse anyone.

“In 70 years, for the first time, people will vote on schools and hospitals Our entire campaign will be a “positive campaign,” he added.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), for its part, warned the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Delhi that its time has run out.

“AAP has found a new strategy of taking BJP’s criticism in its step by suggesting that they will implement many of them over the next five years. But I want to tell the Aam Aadmi Party that its time is up,” said EU Minister Prakash Javadekar.

BJP President and EU Mome Minister Amit Shah said Monday that the people of Delhi will elect a government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he accuses the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) of making only promises.

“I am sure that through this festival of democracy, the people of Delhi will defeat those who deceived them for five years by making them only hollow promises. They will elect a government under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi,” Shah tweeted.

Kirti Azad, chairwoman of the Delhi Congressional Unit campaign committee, said Congress is prepared for the next assembly polls in the national capital and will conduct an “aggressive” campaign.

“We are prepared and will run an aggressive campaign, which will compare the work done by Congress under (former Chief Minister) Sheila Dikshit and the current Kejriwal government in Delhi,” Azad said.

The Congress will corner the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), interfering with the state of schools, hospitals and the regularization of unauthorized colonieed colonies in Delhi, he added.

The election to the 70-member Delhi Assembly will take place on 8 February and the results will be declared on 11 February, the Electoral Commission announced on Monday.
