NEW DELHI: India strongly condemned on Sunday the “selective killing” of a member of the minority Sikh community in Pakistan’s Peshawar.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MEA) said Pakistan should stop “prevaridating” and take immediate action to arrest and punish perpetrators of the crime in an exemplary manner.

“India strongly condemns the selective murder of a member of the minority Sikh community in Peshawar that follows the recent despicable vandalism and desecration of St. Gurdwara Sri Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib and the unsolved case of kidnapping, forced conversion and marriage of a Sikh jajit Jajit Kaur girl,” the MEA said.

He said Pakistan’s government should act in defense of its own minorities rather than “preaching sermons” about it to other countries.
