Hyderabad,Oct 5 (): Telangana CM KCR has promised to get back government lands in the capital and in Ranga Reddy district.
Telangana CM’s contention is that during the Congress and TDP rule, many bigwigs starting from politicians to movie stars encroached on prime properties. He said the door to door survey conducted in Telangana state identified the donga and dora (thief and good guy).
He said that just two tracts of land in Hyderabad cost Rs 20,000 crore. With this money he said he would launch a housing colony for the poor at a cost of Rs 10,000 crores. KCR said that the encroachments are from Seemandhra region and he has got the information from revenue department. He said that these bigwigs would be evicted forcibly. It was at the outset of the household survey in Telangana, KCR had made it clear that it was targeted at encroachers and to identify residents of Seemandhra region who are enjoying concessions given by the State government.
Telangana is witnessing severe blackouts with many parts going without power for eight hours. Power companies are giving out eight-hour power cuts as per a schedule and have now decided to cut power at nights too.
Telangana state is facing a shortfall of 800 MW of power, mainly as the demand from farmers is high as it is kharif season. In the next 15 days, the demand will come down as the season ends but power managers say that it will not end blackouts.
Nearly 250 MW is cut in Greater Hyderabad to see that the farm sector is not affected. Till a second line that connects to a national grid gets going two years later, Telangana will face a minus power situation.
BHEL and Telangana signed a pact to set up thermal plants which will generate 6000 MW. It will be operational in three years. The State will buy 2000 MW power from private producers. On October 9, contract workers of TS Genco are going on strike as the government has not regularized them.
