Hyderabad, Sep 23 (): Mahesh Babu’s new release “Aagadu” that was released worldwide on September 19 is making good business across the country as well as in the overseas markets. The much-anticipated action entertainer has also broken many BO records in the Telugu cinema.
Aagadu has collected 27.6 crore at the Andhra Pradesh and Telangana box office in the first weekend. It is the 2nd highest all time worldwide collections for a Telugu movie behind only Attarintiki Daredi.
Mahesh Babu’s “Aagadu” has earned Rs 9.74 crore on the opening day. The film was released with huge expectations and it was anticipated to beat the opening day collections of Pawan Kalyan’s “Attarintiki Daaredi”, considering that the Mahesh Babu starrer had a record release.
Aagadu was released in more than 2000 silver screens worldwide. The movie also made a new overseas record of releasing in more than 250+ international screens. In spite of its biggest relese, “Aagadu” failed to beat “Attarintiki Daaredi” collections but it took the second spot in the list of top 10 all-time day one shares.
Aagadu is at the second spot at Andhra box office after “Attarintiki Daaredi”. “Attarintiki Daaredi” movie collected 10.75 cr at Andhra box office and it stays on top in the list of top 10 highest opening day collections at Andhra box office.
Also, the Mahesh Babu starrer has shown a biggest opening ever for a Telugu film at the worldwide box office. The movie has broken all previous records made by a Tollywood movie at worldwide box office. The trailers, posters and pre-release marketing helped the film gain huge market worldwide.
Jeevi of idlebrain tweeted, “Aagadu USA -premieres $533K, Fri -$395K, Sat-$373K; Total till now-$1301K. Will cross $1.5 mil by 1st weekend. Mahesh: overseas king!”
The film has beaten the opening weekend collections of Salman Khan’s “Kick” at the US box office. Reports say “Kick” had grossed $829,411 in its first weekend. The Mahesh starrer has also beaten Hrithik Roshan’s “Krrish 3″ opening weekend collections, which amounts to $1.1 million.
Directed by Srinu Vaitla, “Aagadu” also features Tamannah Bhatia, Sonu Sood, Brahmanandam and Rajendra Prasad in important roles.
