Mumbai, Sep 1 (): The major releases of Bollywood for the month September 2014 are Mary Kom, Finding Fanny, Khoobsurat that stars Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor respectively.
Mary Kom releases on September 5. It is a biopic with Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra playing the role of Olympic bronze medallist MC Mary Kom.
Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in collaboration with Viacom 18, director Omung Kumar is making his directorial debut with the movie. Mary Kom has received ‘U’ certificate from the censor board and has been declared tax-free in Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh.
The biopic narrates the journey of the famous boxer Mary Kom who gave up her sporting career when it was at its peak to enjoy the pleasures of motherhood. But after giving birth to two children, she made her comeback in the ring and went on to make history.
“Finding Fanny” hits the screens on September 12. It is an English/Hindi ironic film, produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films and presented by Fox Star Studios and written and directed by Homi Adajania.
Finding Fanny has received U/A certificate from the censor board. The movie stars Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Pankaj Kapur, Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor in prominent roles.
Khoobsurat is a remake movie of the same name. The movie releases on September 19.
The old version, Khoobsurat has veteran actress Rekha doing the lead role. It is a cult comedy of the 80s and is a women centric film. The new version directed by Shashanka, has Sonam Kapoor in the lead role and Fawad Khan plays the role of a prince. The film also stars Ratna Pathak and Kirron Kher.
Lead actor Fawad suggests that the script of the film is an inspiration to the old film but other than that the new version is different. The campus and structure of this film is totally different, he said.
