Amit Shah gets taste of Kerala BJP divide

Chennai/Thiruvananthapuram, Sep 1 (): Kerala visit of Amit Shah, the BJP president has been greeted by murder of RSS worker in its stronghold and thrown open a reason why the lotus never bloomed in the State.

Before Shah’s visit to Kerala, RSS chief Bhagwat visited the hill station Idukki to motivate the cadre to gear up for local body and state assembly elections. Shah had to preside over a state meet which lambasted Modi government for not giving anything to the State unit to boast of the 100 days of the NDA ministry.

The resolution also said that BJP could not make use of RSS cadre in the state. Shah was aghast as member after member blasted BJP State president accusing him of playing partisan politics, siding with Kasaragod candidate and getting Modi to campaign for him. This was in contrast to BJP candidate Rajagopal in the capital who had a chance to beat Shashi Tharoor.

Rajagopal pushed CPI to third position and cut Tharoor’s margin from one lakh to ten thousand. Rajagopal alleged that Congress MP K V Thomas and Oscar Fernandes came to his constituency to shift Christian votes on orders from Sonia Gandhi.

Kerala BJP unit wanted to go in for a coalition model by tying up with other stakeholders for electoral gains. As the Catholic Church Bishops chief met Modi, Kerala BJP hopes to get support from them.

Shah finally in a public meeting wanted BJP to first wrest the capital city’s civic body from Left and see that next LS poll sends MPs from his party. Shah said that he has finalized a blue print for BJP recovery in Kerala.

BJP meet also saw many objecting to ex-Supreme court CJI Sathasivam appointment as Governor since he was a person who administered oath to the President and now he represents him in Kerala. The All India Bar Association opposed the move on the grounds that BJP in opposition had taken a stance that judges post retirement should not be given government postings.

Yet another point is that the Governor is bound to go by Kerala ministry orders, considered a fall in status. However, critics ask whether it was proper to appoint Sheila Dikshit, a scam tainted person. Sathasivam was the judge in the Mumbai attack case and was provided Z plus security cover by UPA even after retirement. He had expressed his willingness to work as Lok Pal chief if NDA chose him.
