Mary Kom gets ‘U’ certification

Mumbai, Aug 29 (): The latest report says Mary Kom, which received a U/A certificate earlier by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), has now received ‘U’ certificate.

The lead actress of the film, Priyanka Chopra expressed her joy about receiving the ‘U’ certification on the social networking site Twitter. She tweeted, “Awesome! ‘U’ certificate! Family movie #MaryKom,”, the film’s director Omang Kumar tweeted, “Mary Kom gets a ‘U’ certificate. More reach to us.”

Mary Kom is a biopic movie on the Olympic boxing winner Mary Kom. Produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in collaboration with Viacom 18, the movie is slated for September 5 release. Ironically, Mary Kom will not release in Manipur, home state of the athlete, as Bollywood movies have been banned there for last 14 years.

Priyanka Chopra dons the role of the boxing champion for the film. Mary Kom was herself moved on hearing the storyline and revealed her joy on seeing the film. There some emotional scenes in the film – the heart break of Mary Kom when she was told her son had a hole in his heart, losing her first international match, the strenuous and rigorous workout, and the pride of carrying the Indian flag to the winner’s podium.

Mary Kom is an athlete, a wife, a mother and she is what the Indian woman stands for. Acting the role of a great woman is the pride got to the Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra.

It was not easy for Priyanka to do the movie. Especially in the song, ‘Salaam India’ the actress had shed sweat, tears and blood. Priyanka Chopra had described Mary Kom as the toughest film of her career.

To do the role of the great lady, Priyanka needed to stretch each and every muscle and vigor in her body. It was a great test to find out her limits of endurance.
