India Vs England- Second ODI at Cardiff (Preview)

Aug 27 () : India and England face each other in the second ODI of the five match series at Cardiff, after the first match of the series was abandoned without a ball being bowled on Monday at Bristol.

The MET department, like in Bristol, has predicted for rain at Cardiff, a ground which is just 44 miles away from Bristol. The only positive is that the forecast is for a dry and sunny morning with winds and rain expected in the evening which might impact the second innings of the match. The team that wins the toss will love to bowl first so that they can plan their chase in case of D/L.

The last time India played here in 2011, Virat Kohli scored a century only to be over shadowed by the debutant Baristow who helped England clinch the match under D/L with a 21 ball 41.

India has been occupied with their own problems off the field where Ravi Shastri has been appointed Team Director which has sent a signal to Duncan Fletcher that he is being monitored. While Dhoni has come out in defence of the Coach stating that he will be the man coaching the side during the world cup in 2015, a defeat at the hands of England in this format may spell doom.

Post the world cup victory in 2011, India have won only 8 of the 21 matches it has played outside Asia and West Indies, while losing 13. This is not a great stat which they will want to carry going into the world cup in Australia and New Zealand in less than 6 months time.

For England, Swann has created ripples by questioning the inclusion of Cook in the ODI format and has highlighted his slow going approach in scoring at the top of the order.

India Vs England – Second ODI – Possible Team Combination:

India : Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (capt & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, R Ashwin, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav

England:  Alastair Cook (capt), Alex Hales, Ian Bell, Joe Root, Eoin Morgan, Chris Woakes, Jos Buttler (wk), Chris Jordan, James Tredwell, James Anderson, Harry Gurney
