Mumbai, Aug 22 (): Bollywood actress Rani Mukerji’s ‘Mardaani’ releases today, August 22 with much expectations on the actress. Mardaani is her first movie after her hush-hush wedding with Yash Raj Films head Aditya Chopra in April.
Mardaani, a crime drama is expected to create a storm at the box office due to the presence of the actress. In the movie, Rani is playing an aggressive Mumbai cop, Shivani Shivaji Roy and the story deals with child trafficking.
Shivani is a Senior Inspector of Crime Branch. She is a fearless and determined policewoman following a mafia don, who abducts a young girl, smuggles her out of the city and forces her into flesh trade.
In a cop role, Mardaani showcases Rani in a never-seen-before avatar. To enact her role perfectly she has done some exclusive hardcore actions and chases behind bad guys.
Along with focussing on girl trafficking issues, the movie also carries message about women’s empowerment and the lead actress of the film hopes that the movie would work out so well and would be received well by the audience so that they can bring out part two. Rani is very sure that her film would inspire girls to speak their mind, be brave and bring out their ‘mardaana’ (brave and bold) spirit.
While promoting the film, Rani had said if the movie had touched women in a right manner, then all their efforts were well paid off. She added such a response would give her a feel that it was fully worth to be part of it.
Also, Rani has done the promotions for her first film after marriage in an extensive way. She has promoted her film not only across Mumbai but also in her home-town Kolkata.
Produced by Rani Mukerji’s husband Aditya Chopra and directed by Pradeep Sarkar, ‘Mardaani’, also stars Tahir Bhasin and Jisshu Sengupta. Mardaani releases today with an A-certificate.
