Mumbai, Aug 19 (): Singham Returns starring Ajay Devgn and Kareena Kapoor, has collected Rs 77.64 crore in just three days, thus becoming the biggest opener of Ajay Devgn and the second biggest opening film of 2014 after Salman Khan’s Kick.

‘Singham Returns’ is the sequel of the 2011 ‘Singham’. Released on August 15, Independence Day, a national holiday in over 4,000 screens worldwide, including 3,600 screens in India, the movie opened to a roaring response and the opening day collections of the movie were so huge that it surpassed the day one collection of Salman Khan’s Kick by a few crores, thus turning out to be the highest opener of 2014 so far.
Singham Returns maintained a good run over the weekend, thus making the opening weekend collections impressive. Now, the film is marching politely towards the lifetime business of Singham, Rs 100.30 cr nett.
The Rohit Shetty-directed film crossed the Rs. 50 crore mark at the Indian box office in just two days of its release. Looking at the fast collections, the action-entertainer is expected to cross the 100-crore mark in just five days.
Rohit Shetty’s previous film ‘Chennai Express’ collected over Rs 226 crores worldwide. He is also not new to the Rs 100 crore club. In his successful film career, Rohit Shetty has six back-to-back hits in which three are Rs 100 crore grossers (Golmaal-3, Bol Bachchan, Singham) and a Rs 200 cr grosser (Chennai Express). Positive word of mouth amd excellent reviews from critics will surely push ahead the box office collections of ‘Singham Returns and make it another hit film for Rohit.
